The Eudaimonia Center

The Village at Shirlington

You've been dismissed long enough.

At The Eudaimonia Center, you are seen. You are heard. You are valued. And you will be cared for... holistically.

Integrative women’s health care that addresses your body, your mind, and your spirit… all in one place.

MISSION STATEMENT

Rooted in in the historical, cultural, and spiritual experiences of Black women, The Eudaimonia Center exists for the “thrival” and wholeness of the entire person, not only the management of symptoms, but also the full flourishing of your health, your identity, and your life.

CULTURE & VALUES

Our practice is grounded in the womanist ethic of care, an ethical framework rooted in the lived experiences and cultural heritage of Black women, centering holistic well-being, communal survival, and systemic justice. It is characterized by:

  1. Centering Lived Experience and Agency: We honor our experiential knowledge and wisdom in regards to our spiritual, mental/emotional, and physical realities. We also validate personal identity and self-definition, pushing back against historical marginalization and stereotypes like the Superwoman Complex.
  2. Community, Interconnectedness, and Mothering: Rather than individual isolation, it is committed to the liberation, survival, and flourishing of an entire people, both male and female It also embraces community-based nurturing, where collective responsibility is taken for raising, guiding, and protecting the vulnerable.
  3. Holistic Integration (Spirit, Mind, and Body):  Care requires addressing the interconnected triad of spiritual connection, mental/emotional processing, and physical bodily health rather than fragmenting human needs. True care rejects self-destructive martyrdom or forced self-sacrifice in favor of sustainable, healing self-preservation.
  4. Social Witness and Political Clarity:  Acts of care are intrinsically tied to an active, clear-eyed critique and dismantling of structural evils, racism, and sexism. Care is courageous and audacious (“woman-ish”), willing to confront institutional power dynamics to protect community humanity.

Be seen. Be heard. Be valued. Here.

Care That Sees You... WHOLE

We don't treat symptoms in isolation.
Every service at The Eudaimonia Center is part of a larger picture of who you are and what you need.

Therapy

Your mental and emotional health is not held separately from your physical health, it is inseparable from it. Our licensed therapist provides a culturally affirming space where you can process, heal, and grow without having to explain yourself first.

Nutrition

Not every body responds to food the same way. Our approach to nutrition is personalized to your unique biology… using your blood type as a foundational lens to guide anti-inflammatory eating, metabolic resistance, and long-term vitality.

Acupuncture

An ancient practice with modern clinical evidence behind it. Acupuncture at The Eudaimonia Center addresses hormone imbalance, pain management, stress regulation, fertility support, and more… integrated seamlessly with your overall care plan.

Spiritual & Energy Healing

Healing happens at every level: spiritual, mental/emotional, physical, and energetic. Our Reiki Master Teacher and Metaphysician work with you to restore balance, release what no longer serves you, and reconnect with your own wholeness.

Meet Dr. White

Dr. Laurena White is deeply committed to health, well-being, and… HEALING. In 2018, she opened the doors of The Eudaimonia Center with a single conviction: Black women will receive health care built around the fullness of who they are, not just the parts that fit neatly inside a 15-minute appointment. She grew the practice from a solo operation to a dynamic team across three Washington, DC Metro area locations. With over 20 years in women’s health from labor support doula to OB/GYN, reproductive endocrinology, acupuncture, and Chinese herbal medicine, she is an integrative reproductive medicine and women’s health provider who actively bridges science, faith, and the Womanist Ethic of Care. She is also a Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Alumna and corporate wellness strategist who has successfully integrated conventional medicine and traditional healing modalities so that the care her patients receive is not only restorative, but also transformative.

The Eudaimonia Center is the result of her original conviction… a physician-led, integrative practice where clinical excellence, cultural competence, and understanding of integrative medicine are never competing values.

"After my initial consultation, my eyes were opened! Dr. White asked me questions that no doctor had ever asked me before AND she explained WHY she was asking specific questions. The questions, which seemed completely unrelated to why I was seeking help, were actually keys to helping me heal. She listened to everything and asked me what my goals were. No doctor had ever asked me about MY goals. When I began working with her, and later other members of the team, my entire being... released (That's the only way I can describe it). She anticipated my questions and answered the ones I didn't even know I had. Working with this team is precisely what I needed to get back on track and stay there."
